It gives me great pleasure to present to you the China Tourism & China Hotel-Branding Forum 2013 (CTHF 2013) jointly hosted by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), and organised by the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM).

CTHF 2013 is a two-in-one conference combining the 8th China Tourism Forum and the 6th International Forum on China Hotel Brand Development. I am delighted that CTHF 2013 takes place in the vibrant city of Hong Kong and at our one-of-a-kind teaching and research hotel, Hotel ICON, from 16 to 18 May.

Welcome Message from Forum Chair

Although a late starter in international tourism, China has risen in recent years to become one of the top three destinations in the world. With such an unprecedented growth of tourism, many issues, challenges and opportunities have emerged, most of which have global implications. Taking the theme “New Tourism, New Strategies”, CTHF 2013 strives to explore the many opportunities that are emerging, as well as the potential challenges arising from the blistering progress of China tourism, and ultimately provide innovative insights into the country’s tourism and hospitality industry.

CTHF 2013 brings together tourism policy makers, industry experts, educators, scholars, researchers, postgraduates and other interested parties from around the world. We provide our delegates as well as the international tourism and hospitality community with a unique forum to exchange information, ideas and views, and to consolidate the research efforts and industry experiences in the field.

We invite your participation in the Forum.
