Mr. Lu is the Executive Director of Hong Kong Hotels Association and he has held this position since 1997. Prior to that, he was the Deputy Executive Director of Hong Kong Tourist Association (re-named Hong Kong Tourism Board) for 10 years.



Mr. Lu is a very active member of the hotel industry in Hong Kong and China. He is well known for his frequent engagements as guest speakers and moderators at international hospitality industry and travel and tourism related forums and conferences, especially in China. He also served as panel speakers at the International Hotel & Restaurant Association Annual Congresses in Mexico City, Istanbul and Beijing.



Mr. Lu served on the University Council of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University as a Council Member for 6 years from 2001-2007 and he also served as a Visiting Professor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, School of Hotel & Tourism Management Master of Science Program in 2006. Mr. Lu continues to serve as a Faculty member of the Winter School, a joint collaboration between the University’s School of Hotel & Tourism Management, and Hong Kong Hotels Association for advanced hotel executive education.



In 1997, he was invited as a guest lecturer at Cornell University Hotel School and he has lectured widely in China on subjects on hospitality and tourism management. In 1990-1993, he served as guest lecturer at the China National, Provincial and City Tourism Director’s Training Program, organized by China National Tourism Administration.



Mr. Lu was conferred Honorary Fellow of Birmingham College of Food, Tourism and Creative Studies in 1999 and he is also a Fellow of The Institute of Hospitality in the United Kingdom. In 2010, Mr. Lu was invited as a Visiting Lecturer in Hospitality Management and Design at the Academy of Art and Design, Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, under their Master Class Lecture Series.

Mr. Lu holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accountancy and Business Administration and he is professional accountant holding CPA designation in Hong Kong. Mr. Lu also holds certificates in Finance and Marketing from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
