Dr Lui Che-woo founded the first K. Wah company in 1955 to engage in the business of construction materials in Hong Kong and has since become a key player in the industry. In the 1960s, Dr Lui embarked on property investments. In the 1980s, he set his sights on hotel development. In the 1990s, he expanded his business into Mainland China, and in 2002 he became one of six gaming concessionaries in Macau, where he has developed world-class travel, leisure, shopping, meeting, convention, exhibition and entertainment facilities. A distinguished philanthropist, Dr Lui has been particularly supportive of the development of education, medical care and the hotel and tourism industry. Dr Lui has served the community in many capacities, including roles as a Committee Member of the 9th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a member of the Selection Committee for the First Term Chief Executive of the HKSAR, a member of the Election Committee of the HKSAR and Member of Steering Committee on MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions).
